The Forbidden Game and Immortal

>>I just finished two excellent books.  The first is The Forbidden Game by L.J Smith.  It is about a girl named Jenny that wants to get her boyfriend, Tom, a special game for his birthday party. However, she can’t help but be fascinated by the boy with the white-blond hair who sells her a strange game as a present. It turns out that the boy, Julian, is the youngest of those from the Shadow Lands, a race of evil beings who live invisibly just beside our own world. Once Jenny opens the game, she is in his land. Julian is determined to seduce her, but he has to work by a set of inflexible rules, only touching Jenny where she has reached for him.
In the fantasy house that Julian has created, where everyone at the party must face their greatest fear, Julian himself is Jenny’s worst nightmare. . . and maybe her dream lover, as well.

>>The other book I finished was Immortal by Gillian Shields.  It was a great adventure with plenty of twists and turns that will leave you on the edge of your seat.  The book is based around Evie Johnson.  When she goes to Wyldcliffe Abbey School for Young Ladies, housed in a Gothic mansion on the bleak northern moors, is elite, expensive, and unwelcoming Evie's only lifeline is Sebastian, a rebellious, mocking, dangerously attractive young man she meets by chance. As Evie's feelings for Sebastian grow with each secret meeting, she starts to fear that he is hiding something about his past. And she is haunted by glimpses of a strange, ghostly girl - a girl who is so eerily like Evie, she could be a sister. Evie is slowly drawn into a tangled web of past and present that she cannot control. And as the extraordinary, elemental forces of Wyldcliffe rise up like the mighty sea, Evie is faced with an astounding truth about Sebastian, and her own incredible fate.

>>I recommend both of these books to anyone looking for a nice book to read at anytime.

The Secret Circle

>>I finished reading the series The Secret Circle by L.J Smith a while ago, and I absolutly loved it.  It was fast-paced and forbidden love, and amazing magic.  It took you on an exciting journey and I would recommend this book to anybody looking for a good read.  The book starts off a little slow but become an adventure.  I give it five stars, so go out and buy it.

Twilight Author Sued In Copyright Case

I read jsut read an article in the NY Times that talks about the beloved author of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer, being sued by Jordan Scott-author of The Nocturne.  She claims that Mrs. Meyer book Breaking Dawn was very similar to her book.  I am not the biggest fan of Stephenie Meyer, but why would Scott come out a year after Breaking Dawn was writen.  Obviously she was thirsting for attention, something Stephenie Meyer has a lot of.

Catching Fire Update

I just read an article about Catching Fire.  It talks about:

>> Events and occurrences at Barnes and Noble and Borders (along with celebrations at other bookstores, which you should check if you are nearby!).

>> Suzanne Collins' schedule to finish the third book before starting the screenplay. It is logical here that we won't be seeing a movie until, at earliest time, 2011.

>> Future features at the Scholastic.Com official website.

It really does look like it's going to be "the next big thing," doesn't it?

Beastly

-My 30 book I read was Beastly by Alex Flinn.  It was a modern-day version of a the classic Beauty and the Beast.

-Kyle Kingsbury, rich, handsome and popular, is turned into a beast when he plays a mean practical joke on a distasteful girl in his class, who is really a witch named Kendra in disguise. The witch then curses him for his cruelty. He starts to turn into a beast, however because he performed a small act of kindness shortly before his transformation - he gave an unwanted rose corsage to a girl working a ticket booth - she gives him two years to break the spell. The only way he can turn back to normal is if he truly loves a girl and gets her to love him in return, proving the love with a kiss. Kendra later offers Kyle further aid by giving him a magic mirror that shows him whoever he wishes to see. He is locked in a mansion-like apartment by his shallow, image-obsessed father. His only company is his housekeeper, Magda, and, at his request, a blind tutor named Will. Kyle has two years to truly fall in love with someone and earn their love in return, or remain a beast forever. After a year of being in this state, and trying and failing to find love, Kyle changes his name to Adrian to reflect his feelings of being a completely different person from the conceited, materialistic boy he used to be. When a robber stumbles into his garden Adrian offers him a deal; he won't report the robber to the police if the robber brings Adrian his daughter, Linda. She is Adrian's last chance to break the spell before his two years are up.

-There will be a movie for the book next year.  For more information on the movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152398/ ,  http://www.beastlythemovie.com/

The Vampire Diaries

I've currently finished the book The Vampire Diaries by my favorite female author, L.J. Smith.  I'm getting really tired of vampire books, but L.J. Smith can make you want to read them over and over again.  The other books I've read by her include the Night World series.  When I read The Vampire Diaries it seemed like Stephenie Meyer bit off of it for Twilight, and it can't be the other way around because The Vampire Diaries came out in 1991 long before Twilight was made.  The story centers around Elena Gilbert, a high school girl torn between two vampire brothers.  he first book introduces the reader to Elena Gilbert, a beautiful and popular high school student in the small town of Fall's Church in Virginia, her friends: Bonnie, Meredith, Matt, and Caroline, Elena's old friend who now is her competition. As their senior year begins, Elena pursues the mysterious new guy in town, Stefan Salvatore. Stefan's resistance is met with Elena's determination, and she eventually discovers his secret: that Stefan is a centuries-old vampire. As Elena and Stefan fall in love, strange attacks begin to happen in the town while a dark and seductive stranger appears to Elena. Elena eventually learns that the stranger is Stefan's older brother Damon.

It's also going to be adapted into a television series:  "On February 6, 2009, Variety announced that The CW Television Network greenlighted the pilot for The Vampire Diaries with Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec set as the writers and executive producers.[5] On May 19, 2009, the pilot was officially ordered to series for the 2009-2010 season.[6] The series cuts a few characters and changes the looks of others. Filming for the series began in July 2009 in Covington, Georgia. The shots of the high school and football scenes were produced at Monroe Career Academy."

Kissed by an Angel

I just finished reading a really good book, it's called Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler.  It's A love beyond life and a danger beyond doubt.

In a romantic and suspenseful collection of the New York Times bestselling trilogy, love's unbreakable bonds are put to the test.

When her boyfriend, Tristan, died, Ivy thought she'd lost everything, even her faith in angels. But now she's discovered that he's her guardian angel — his presence so strong that she can feel the touch of his hand, the beat of his heart. Ivy needs Tristan now more than ever because he knows she's in terrible danger. Only Ivy's guardian angel can save her now that his killer is after her.

But if Tristan rescues Ivy, his mission on earth will be finished, and he must leave her behind forever. Will saving Ivy mean losing her just when he's finally reached her again?

I loved reading this book and it is ranked third after Maximum Ride and The Hunger Games, so I advise you go out and check the book out.

25 Books

I've just hit the record of reading 25 books this summer.  I am so happy, and I'm making my way to 30.

The Time Travelers Wife

I just finished reading the novel The Time Travelers Wife.  It was a really good but heartwrenching book.  I recommend this book for people looking for a sci-fi type romance novel.

It is a love story about a man with a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel unpredictably, and about his wife, an artist who has to cope with his frequent absences and dangerous experiences. Niffenegger, frustrated in love when she began the work, wrote the story as a metaphor for her failed relationships. The novel, which has been classified as both science fiction and romance, examines issues of love, loss, and free will.

Using alternating first-person perspectives, the novel tells the stories of Henry DeTamble (born 1963), a librarian at the Newberry Library in Chicago, and his wife, Clare Abshire (born 1971), an artist who makes paper sculptures. Henry has a rare genetic disorder, which comes to be known as Chrono-Displacement, that causes him to involuntarily travel through time. When 20-year-old Clare meets 28-year-old Henry at the Newberry Library in 1991 at the opening of the novel, he has never seen her before, although she has known him most of her life.

The movie will be out on August 14th, so if you don't want to read the book go out and see the movie.

House of Night Series

I just completed the House of Series.  It was very intriguing and kept me occupied.  I recommend this book to people that like books with modern style vampires.  There are a total of five books in the series currently, and the six book, Tempted, will be out on October 27.

Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, Untamed, and Hunted are the books currently out right now.

If you need more information on the books visit http://www.houseofnightseries.com/
