Twilight Author Sued In Copyright Case

I read jsut read an article in the NY Times that talks about the beloved author of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer, being sued by Jordan Scott-author of The Nocturne.  She claims that Mrs. Meyer book Breaking Dawn was very similar to her book.  I am not the biggest fan of Stephenie Meyer, but why would Scott come out a year after Breaking Dawn was writen.  Obviously she was thirsting for attention, something Stephenie Meyer has a lot of.
